Death, Mourning, and the Afterlife (Vezos Haberacha)

What happens when a person dies? If the soul continues to live, why does Judaism give such a real place to grief and mourning? This class explores the Torah’s view of death, the afterlife, and the soul’s journey from Heaven into this world and back again. We’ll discover why life in this world is so precious, what the soul can accomplish here that it cannot accomplish above, and why mourning is not a lack of faith but a Torah response to real loss. The class also shows how our relationship with those who passed away can continue through Kaddish, tzedakah, Torah, mitzvos, and carrying their values forward.
